ABOUT THE ARTISTS

Neisha “Braveheart” Kelly hails from Trenton, New Jersey. Her love of writing manifested at the age of five and is ever evolving with a particular preference for poetry and personal essays. She loves to learn interesting things about others but clams up when it is time to talk about herself. She earned the named Braveheart from her mentor Todd Evans because of the often difficult subject matter she chooses to tackle through her writing. She is vulnerable, honest, and uplifting. Her only hope is that others can learn from her mistakes and if they are a victim of the pitfalls of life that maybe her struggles can become their triumph.
There is a test in every testimony. It is not about how many times you fall but how you recover.

Poetic Marcia Mello… I am a lover of music (of all kinds), and have been writing poetry for the past few years. I have been a part of many different poetry events, as well as an opening act for a Comedy show. What inspired me to write poetry, is the problems of the world today, and the urgent need for US to solve them. My focus is to uplift, motivate, and encourage others, as well as promoting love, peace, and unity. Prior to writing poetry, I pursued a rap career, while living in California, and met and worked with a lot of talented artists. I look forward to finishing up my poetry book, as well as spreading the word through my poetry, because poetry helps to heal. With each poem that I write, I will deliver a powerful message. So, if you dig deep into my poem, then you will receive it….YouTube mello1204. Peace and Blessings

Kelli Shanae Nobles, a native of Willingboro, New Jersey, began writing poetry at 11 years old. Her 1st poem won 2nd place in her elementary school poetry contest and was recognized in the local newspaper. From that moment on she realized the power of artistic expression. Kelli continued to write through her early adulthood. It wasn’t until she was 27 that she began to take her writing seriously. She has been featured everywhere from New York City to Chicago and has even opened up for soul singer Vivian Green. Then in 2014, fellow poet Todd Evans, president of the Don Evans Players, contacted her to be double cast in Lorraine Hansberry’s A Raisin in the Sun as Beneatha. Kelli accepted the offer and the play was a hit! In 2015, the Don Evans Players became a non-profit theater group and Kelli was elected as the organization’s secretary. She continues to perform poetry and act in Don Evans Players theater productions.
