"Though I started this before #covid19, it turned out to be very apt for the current situation. Presenting 'Quarantined' ... something to always remind us of current times even after this has passed!

Pastel on paper en plein air
"I welcome this opportunity to share these two two pastels on paper, created in plein air, in Tyler State Park PA this past week. In these uncertain times it is a sanctuary for so many of us, lucky we are to have it. I found the vibrant and blossoming spring with it's emerging growth provided a sense of tranquility and hope. As I painted outdoors, distanced from others on an old canvas laid on the ground near the Neshaminy Creek, it's babbling water spoke of past and future. The trees just budding and the scents and sounds were comforting. Mother Nature is taking care of herself and us if we just pause and listen."

Cyanotypes, toilet paper squares
"Since humans' existence we've created art about the things most important o us. In 2020 we've made it clear: Toilet paper is of the highest societal value. During quarantine in March 2020 I passed the time making cyanotypes using geometrically folded toilet paper squares."

"For thousands of years, knitting, weaving, and the fabric arts have been a way to use one's energy productively, especially in a time of uncertainty. This genre scene of a domestic interior transcends the immediate moment, to evoke timelessness, faith and hope for the future."
