The “It’s About Time” themed extravaganza would begin each night with the non-competitive prelude telling of a little girl’s imaginary journey through time, by swinging across the spacious gym on a pendulum. The various Sport Nite numbers that followed took the spectators back to different periods of time in the history of the world. 12 points would be awarded each night At the end of four nights, the Black team would clinch the winning title with a score of 38 points to the Red Team’s 17 points. The Black Team would finally triumph on the last night over the Red Team, 47 to 23 points.
Times were indeed changing at TCHS. The class of 1967 saw the last of 160 senior students from Lawrence Township attend the school. The racial balance at the school was changing. Student fights and violence at the school that began in December 1967 would disrupt the peace at the school for years to come. The 1967 Sport Nite would be the last in the long continuous series of the annual event, with the 1968 Sport Nite canceled just over 2 weeks before the competition was to begin.
