Trenton Makes – A Trenton / NYC exhibit

June 23, 2012 – September 1, 2012

The Trenton Museum Society and the Trenton Artists Workshop Association (TAWA) proudly present Trenton Makes, the Trenton/New York City juried exhibition, on view at the Trenton City Museum from June 23 to September 1 and at the Prince Street Gallery in New York City from July 31 through August 18.

The Trenton exhibition features scores of artists from Central New Jersey and Bucks County and includes works by Mel Leipzig, Jon Naar, Aubrey J. Kauffman, Linda Osborne, Leon Rainbow, and others. Trenton Makes reflects TAWA’s interest in creating exciting opportunities to bring regional artists together to create, excel, strengthen the arts community, and find new venues for expression.

The simultaneous two-city show is a first for the 33-year-old organization. TAWA has played an important role in the cultural life of New Jersey’s capital city. While known for exhibitions at the Trenton City Museum, New Jersey State Museum, and Artworks, TAWA has also produced the ground-breaking Eyes on Trenton festival, created an artists exchange with the Soviet Union, and launched other city arts initiatives and programs.

New York City based art critic and artist Gerard Haggerty juried the show. Haggerty, the author of hundreds of reviews, articles and monographs for ARTnews and other venues, is also the recipient of grants from the National Endowment for the Arts, National Endowment for the Humanities, and the Ford Foundation.
