Four GSWS artists collaborate to create four beautiful paintings. Paintings move from artist to artist, giving birth to four original works with a unique twist. Patrons mingle and watch as the works take shape. At the end of the afternoon, four lucky guests will go home with an original watercolor created on the spot!
Participating artists: Angela Barbalace, Aida Birritteri, Judy Ballance and Marilyn Rose.
Award-winning artist Angela Barbalace is well-known to Ellarslie patrons. Her illustrations, watercolors and works in other media have established her reputation throughout New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. She received her MFA from Syracuse University.
Cuban-born Aida Birritteri is exhibiting at Ellarslie for the second time. Her loose watercolor style and use of bold, translucent color mark her exuberant approach to her subjects. Aida studied drawing and oil painting at Mason Gross and received her degree from Jersey City University.
World traveler Judy Ballance says that “studying art and visiting art galleries and museums are two of my favorite things to do.” She has studied at Ichiyo School of Flora Art in Japan, The Fletcher Farm School in Vermont and the Pratt Institute in New York among other places.
Marilyn Rose is well known for the spirit and skill that she brings to plein air painting. She says, “[My paintings] are really about edges and connections– the places where things meet: paint and paper; light and shadow; pigment and water; and the natural and man-made worlds.” |
