Impressions: The Art of the Print

Prints are no longer limited to etchings and engravings. The medium has exploded to include many multi-step processes. Included in this exhibit are prints by twenty-seven artists, many of them first-timers at Ellarslie. The techniques range from woodblock engravings to Stonehenge Ink monotypes to silkscreens to clay monoprints and much more. The styles range from landscapes and architectural renderings to abstract collages. The quality of the work, however, is uniformly excellent showing the depth of artistic talent in the Delaware Valley.
Monoprint Fusion Workshop

create a stunning image by combining monoprinting with drypoint in a hybrid process instructor Andrea Williams likes to call a Monoprint Fusion. You can use one technique or many, but each monoprint is singular and unique (which makes it exciting!) The drypoint technique adds a drawing element along with more painterly addition or reduction of ink. All skill levels are welcome, prior printmaking experience is helpful but not required!
Juror — Patricia Ingersoll
Artist Patricia Ingersoll serves as manager of the Alumni Gallery at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts. She studied at the University of Pennsylvania and at PAFA. Her paintings have been featured in solo and group exhibitions in museums and galleries, including the Woodmere Art Museum, the Paley Museum, the LG Tripp Gallery, the JMS Gallery, and the Nexus Gallery in Philadelphia; the Allegheny Museum of Art in Pennsylvania; the Ganser Gallery of Millersville University in Pennsylvania; and the State Museum in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania; the Art Space Gallery in Richmond, Virginia; and the Ethel Blum Gallery of the College of the Atlantic in Bar Harbor, Maine. In New York City, her work has been exhibited at the Krasdale Gallery, the Viridian Gallery, the Prince Street Gallery, and the Phoenix Gallery.
In addition, Ingersoll’s artwork is in numerous public and corporate collections, including those of the Woodmere Art Museum, Cigna Corporation, Delaware Bank and Trust, Nucon Corporation, Pew Charitable Trust, Sun Oil Company, Bryn Mawr Hospital, The State Museum of Pennsylvania, Rouse Corporation, Rittenhouse Financial Services, Rhone-Poulenc Rorer Inc., Mcgraw Hill Publishers, and Bryn Mawr College.
Ingersoll has served as juror and lecturer at venues throughout Pennsylvania.
