Works by Florence Moonan, Steve Smith & Bill Hogan

January 12, 2013 – February 24, 2013

In My View presents works by three area artists with very different views of the world. Each vision is personal and approached differently using a variety of styles and media. Yet, one common aspect of the three is a passion for expressing the experience of travel and the arts– including music and acting — and communicating how these experiences have shaped their lives. In addition, all three artists’ work is rich in colors that saturate every square inch of their art.

Stephen Smith’s body of work is diverse. His pieces range from humorous ink caricatures and small sculptures of famous personages to luxurious portraits and landscapes in rich pastel colors. The artist has imbued each work with a special personality that varies from the traditional disaffection of a reclining nude to the solitude of an old vehicle in its final resting place.

The special qualities of abstract art are well represented in the work of Florence Moonan. Inspired by music and art, the artist has created mysterious canvases that reveal subtle areas of color and form. The surfaces of Venetian plaster are worked repeatedly with layers added and removed to give movement and form to her final creations.

William Hogan will delight viewers with his immense canvases. Each work is bursting with color and form. The environment created in his gallery is dramatic and a joyful celebration of the artist’s life experience.
