You are reading this page because you care about the arts and history. Help the Trenton Museum Society keep Ellarslie the vital cultural institution it has been in our community for almost 40 years.
Thanks to the dedication of long-time friend and Trustee Brenda Springsted, the Trenton Museum Society has been presented with an exciting fundraising opportunity. We have received a bequest of thirty thousand dollars from the estate of Maryann Lockhart, Brenda’s mother. This year for our Annual Appeal, we are challenging our supporters to match that generous bequest. We are asking you to continue your support of the Trenton City Museum by making a contribution today, helping us to reach our goal and to continue excellent programming at the museum.
You know already what we do, but allow me a chance to brag a little. This past season visitors enjoyed art exhibits such as Breath of Fire – Ceramics Invitational, a display of the best regional work in contemporary fine arts ceramics, the record-breaking 33rd Annual Ellarslie Open, and Tertulia in the Museum, our first ever all Latino artists exhibit. They visited our permanent collection of Trenton-made porcelains and ceramics and raved about the summer-long combined art and history exhibit Against All Odds: Inspired by the Life of Paul Robeson, produced in collaboration with the Paul Robeson House of Princeton. They flocked to lectures, concerts and other special events. The public loves us!
As proud stewards of the Trenton City Museum’s permanent collection, the members of the Trenton Museum Society, now in its 43rd year, are thrilled with our success and we are planning more exciting exhibits and events for the upcoming year. But we need your help. We are asking our loyal supporters to invest in the future of the collection and programs at the Trenton City Museum with a generous donation to our Annual Appeal by December 31, 2016 or sooner.
As Brenda says, “Wherever she lived, my mother, Maryann Lockhart, spent her life involved with museums on boards and as a financial supporter. My parents valued these associations in so many ways. I know she would applaud this gift.”
Thank you for your crucial support of the Trenton City Museum and for helping us to meet this challenge. We can’t do this without you!
