Creating Colorful Creatures

Art Lessons for Children

Grades K – 4

Start March 26

After School Art Lessons at Ellarslie

Monday afternoons from 4 – 5 pm

For children in grades K – 4

Five lessons start April 2, 2018.

Affordable lessons at $25 for five lessons with special rates for siblings.

Classes will be taught by local professional artist and experienced teacher Antoinette Marchfelder. Antoinette will guide the students through several art projects inspired by her bright and tropical signature style. Students will use a variety of materials to create beautiful original pieces featuring creative and colorful creatures!

Educational research has shown that an arts education can have a powerful influence on children in abstract areas such as creativity and critical thinking, in addition to building concrete skills like math and multicultural understanding. Art-making also aides in strengthening perseverance and building confidence. Through the arts children learn to make decisions, collaborate, take accountability, and express themselves in a way that benefits the greater community at large by increasing tolerance and empathy.

Students will create several of their own unique works with lessons influenced by our current exhibits. Learning in the museum setting at Ellarslie, enables children to feel inspired by the collection and learn about the rich artistic history and current art community in Trenton. Students will get to work under the guidance of a professional artist in small classes which maximize individual attention.  The course culminates with a showing of the works and students will also be invited to participate in our next student show. We can’t wait to have a great time getting creative with our students!
